On an album that shifts between classic rock, funk, and Casio keyboard-inspired ballads, Nikolai Fraiture keeps the bass steady on the Strokes’ latest efforts of New York retro-chic. While the band grasps at new genres, Fraiture gives what you’d expect from him, and that’s a strong foundation and plenty of eighth-notes.
